There are two types of COVID-19 test, dependent on what you are using the test for. If you have covid symptoms you must have a PCR test, while Lateral flow tests are used for those without any symptoms to regularly check for COVID-19 infection. Further information can be found below:
You need to have this test
- if you have any of the COVID Symptoms
- if you have positive lateral flow test
- if you are self isolating due to close contact with someone who tested postive for COVID-19
LATERAL FLOW TEST
This is a rapid test for those without any symptoms of COVID-19. This is due 1 in 3 people with COVID-19 infection do not have any symptoms of the infection. You should test twice a week (every 3-4 days). This test can be done yourself at home or at lateral flow testing site. This is a free test which can be ordered from online or picked up from local test pick up site.
If the lateral flow test shows positive then you must organise a PCR test (see above) to confirm the diagnosis.
